Jason Little

Creator of Lean Change

Beyond Agile: Building Adaptable Organizations It’s been over 20 years since the Agile Manifesto was created and we’ve seen the intention of agile slowly being degraded as it skewed towards being a money-making machine versus a set of timeless values and principles organizations can use to become more adaptable. Some say agile is dead, some say it’s simply evolving. I say agile is just a thing. People worked ‘in an agile way’ long before the manifesto, and will continue to do so in the future when someone comes up with a more markable term. In this talk, I’ll explore my believe that agile has always been about change. I’ll show a variety of ideas and models designed to help you help your organizations become more adaptable. After all, isn’t that was the spirit of agility always was?

Chief Sustainability Leadership Officer,

Accelerate Your Sustainability Strategy with Agility Whether because they believe it’s the right thing to do or because the regulatory environment is evolving, organizations are crafting Sustainability strategies and rolling out Sustainability initiatives. How successful are they? Well, if you remember the success rate of Agile transformations, you probably know the answer. But now the stakes are even higher. After the financial crisis, the covid-19, the environmental crisis is the ultimate stress test for organizations. Only the resilient ones will make it. The sustainable organization must be an agile organization first. Agile practitioners – with decades of experience in helping organizations adopt new ways of working – are uniquely positioned to make sense of and navigate this new environment. Through case studies and real stories from the trenches, I'll show how Agility improves the likeliness of success of Sustainability initiatives. We'll cover topics such as: - Sustainability as the Why and Agile as the How. Is there more to it? - How to embed Agile practices and competencies into Sustainability journeys to achieve greater success. - What can we learn from Agile transformation to supercharge Sustainability initiatives? - How to connect agile leadership and sustainability leadership? - How to become an agile agent of change in service of sustainability.

Sustainable Agility Starting With Leaders > How can we expect a plane to change direction without the pilot doing so? > How many times have we seen the Agile team complain about the organization leaders? When I talk to the leaders, a lot of them say they don’t know how to work with Agile teams. There are already Scrum Master and Product Owners in the self-organizing teams. What are the challenges organisation leaders have working with Agile teams? What can they learn? How can they change? Based on Business Agility Institute’s research, People-First Leadership is one of the most important factors of business agility. Agility is not going to be sustainable without leadership agility. In this interactive session, we invite the audience to share their thoughts on both the “Leaders’ Game” and the “Agile Game”. We introduce the Agile Leadership compass and 3 levels of Agile Leadership. The audiences will take away a very good understanding of Agile Leadership, have a look at a concrete example of “Expert” leadership and bring back some thoughts to work with the leaders in their organizations. My name is Marc. I am a leadership agility coach and educator. My interest is in leadership and organization agility, digital transformation and empowering people and organizations to thrive in the age of complexity and change. I am looking forward to meeting all of you in Agile Tour Bangkok and exploring how we can have sustainable agility starting with leaders.

The Agile Illusion In today’s business world, many organizations believe they’ve achieved true agility but are stuck in what I call "The Agile Illusion." They adopt Agile practices like stand-ups and sprints, but without the necessary cultural shift, they only scratch the surface of Agile’s real potential. In my talk, The Agile Illusion, I will share key insights on how to identify if your organization is trapped in this illusion and what actionable steps can be taken to break free. The focus will be on building a genuine Agile culture, fostering innovation, and adapting quickly to change. I’ll also highlight real-world examples from my work across Southeast Asia, showcasing how companies can move beyond the illusion and achieve true agility.

Beyond the hype: Building High-Performing AGILE COACHES Agile has become widely adopted globally including Thailand, but the challenge is that "Our agile are not equal," especially in large organizations. There are 2 key challenges often raised. First, aligning multiple Agile coaches while maintaining flexibility to build team might be difficult. Imagine managing 5-15 Agile coaches in organization, each coach has their own practices. Initially, this diversity seems beneficial. However, when teams reorganize, the differences create misalignment, forcing a frustrating cycle of rebuilding the Agile mindset and approach. Second, sustaining Agile practices after forming high-performing teams becomes crucial. How do we sustain Agile practices once the coach steps back? Without sustainability, teams tend to revert to the old way of work. In my session, I’ll share proven strategies to overcome these challenges and build teams that thrive and maintain agility on their own, ensuring long-term Agile success.

The Post-Agile Era: How Product Engineering Builds What Agile Promised In the last few decades many paradigms and practices have risen along side and some perhaps born of Agile, but the prof is in the pudding, what do the most successful companies do? the ground breaking disruptors, are they Agile? or are the something else as well? Product Engineering, is an old term that has been more recently redefined, that includes practices such as cross function collaboration, customer centricity, Iterative Development, but also some concepts at odds with traditional scrum such as long term Vision, Innovation and Ownership. We'll explore Product Engineering and look at what it borrows from Agile practices and also what extends on what Agile is missing, with many examples from how we build things and work at Agoda.

The Bracket Of Change : Blueprint For Sustainable Agility Imagine a successful restaurant chain known for its fresh, fast, and delicious food. At first, customers flock to the restaurant during its opening buzz—the hype cycle. But as time passes, novelty wears off, competitors emerge, and the business must adapt to remain sustainable. The secret lies in the ‘brackets’—the foundational systems that keep the restaurant agile: sourcing sustainable ingredients, refining the menu based on customer feedback, and maintaining a consistent yet adaptable brand experience. These brackets hold the entire operation together, ensuring the restaurant thrives well beyond its launch. In this session, we’ll explore how your organization can design similar "brackets" to ensure that your Agile transformation remains relevant and resilient over time. Just like a successful restaurant adapts its offerings, operations, and customer engagement to remain a favorite, you’ll learn how to create a sustainable blueprint for agility that lasts.

Flight Levels Guide, Lean In Consulting

Sustain your Agility beyond Agile Teams with Flight Levels In this talk, Kulawat shares a compelling journey from his early Agile experiences to the discovery of Flight Levels as a game-changing approach for sustainable agility. Drawing from personal insights, he reveals how initial Agile implementations often get trapped in development silos, limiting their full potential. Kulawat then takes the audience on a thought-provoking "time travel" exercise, reimagining his past experiences through the lens of Flight Levels. By showcasing the design process of a Flight Level 2 Design (FL2D) class and presenting a hypothetical work system from his past, he demonstrates how Flight Levels can break down silos and foster agility across entire organizations. This talk offers both a retrospective look at common Agile pitfalls and a forward-thinking solution for sustaining agility beyond individual teams.

3 Angles to save time and money doing Agile The world has turned on different economics, the seasons has passed over the agile movement, and today a hard wave of pragmatic cost control is challenging the world of agility. It’s uncomfortable to answer this simple question: aren’t we wasting time, effort, money, as we claim to seek a higher efficiency? Yet, I think there is virtue in answering the challenge. For too long we’ve seen too much fluff and dogma around the mainstream practices. For years I’ve talked about how transformations are burning big budgets & big approaches for mediocre results. For this session I’m going to embrace the challenge: where and how organisations tend to waste time, effort, money while transforming and implementing Agile practices. Is it just cost control time? Better: it’s efficiency time.
